Walk for homeless

By B_Mark_Gunderman

Living in Northern Virginia, it's sometimes easy to forget that there are people living in this area who struggle without one of life's most basic necessities: affordable housing. On Saturday, Sept. 22, we here in Loudoun County will have the opportunity to be part of the solution to that problem. The Good Shepherd Alliance in cooperation with the Fannie Mae Foundation will support the homeless in Northern Virginia by sponsoring the thrrd annual 1.2 mile Walk for Shelter through the historic section of Leesburg, Virginia. All proceeds go to benefit the Loudoun homeless at Good Shepherd Alliance Inc.

Starting point is the Douglass Community Center 407 E. Market Street, Leesburg. We then travel west on East Market to Loudoun Street, then on to King Street, through historic Leesburg, then over to Harrison Street, on to East Market and back to Douglass Community Center.

Loudoun is a prominent and empowered community within the Commonwealth of Virginia. Leaders from across the state look to us and observe how we manage our local government, public schools, transportation, property rights, community security, health care and most importantly, our impoverished people.

Go to www.loudounhomeless.org for registration information. Call Joy at 703-887-5772 or Vicki at 703-887-5775 for more information
