Hazardous waste event
Loudoun's Office of Solid Waste Management will collect businesses' hazardous waste at a discounted price May 21, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Bring items to the county's Solid Waste Management Facility, 21101 Evergreen Mills Road, Leesburg. Wolf to talk economy, roads
The Good Shepherd Alliance will host a breakfast forum for businesses May 18 at 7:30 a.m. at the National Conference Center in Lansdowne. The speaker will be U.S. Rep. Forum on the economy
State Sen. Mark Herring (D-eastern Loudoun) will host a forum May 14 on Loudoun's recovery from the down economy. The event is 7-8:30 p.m. at the Cascades Library, 21030 Whitfield Place, Sterling. Topics will include foreclosure aid and the use of federal stimulus money. The forum is free and open to the public.
Store donating trees
Sterling's Belfort Furniture is doing its part to make the world a greener place. In conjunction with the Virginia Department of Forestry, Belfort said it donates a tree for every delivery it makes. Public hearings planned
Loudoun's planning commission will hold public hearings May 21 in Leesburg on two proposals for commercial projects. One is a special-exception request to build a 160-room hotel on five acres near Mooreview Parkway and Ashburn Village Boulevard in Ashburn. The other is also a special-exception request to build a small shopping plaza on 20 acres near U.S. 50 and Rum Spring Road southwest of Washington Dulles International Airport. The hearings begin at 6 p.m. in the board room of the Loudoun County Government Center.
