Quarterback to give talkWashington Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell will speak on leadership at a business community luncheon May 19. Hosted jointly by the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce and the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce, the luncheon will start at 11:30 p.m. at the Hilton Washington Dulles. Firm hires five attorneys
McCandlish & Lillard, which has law offices in Fairfax and Leesburg, recently hired five new attorneys. William Bethune, Alan Croft and Keith Shiner joined the firm as senior attorneys, while William Walsh and Christopher Liens were hired as new associates.
Forum on economy May 14
State Sen. Mark Herring (D-eastern Loudoun) will host a forum this month on Loudoun's recovery from the down economy. The event is scheduled for May 14, 7-8:30 p.m., at Cascades Library, 21030 Whitfield Place, Sterling. Topics will include foreclosure aid and the use of federal stimulus money. The forum is free and open to the public.
Major car dealership hiring
CarMax Inc., the nation's largest retailer of used cars, is looking to fill 65 sales positions in the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore regions. The company has one Loudoun location: 45210 Towlern Place, Sterling. See www.carmax.com to apply.
Bike to Work Day returns
The region's annual Bike to Work day is May 15. The Loudoun County Office of Transportation Services will host two Loudoun pit stops along the Washington & Old Dominion Trail:

Dog spa opens in Lovettsville
A new dog spa and kennel opened in Lovettsville this month. Called Blue Ribbon Acres Boarding Spa, the state-of-the-art facility was designed to provide a safe, fun, dog-friendly environment, the owners said in a statement. Bank reports strong quarter
Middleburg Financial Corp., which owns Middleburg Bank, saw revenues rise the first quarter of this year due to a demand for mortgages.
The company earned $13 million in interest and fees on loans the first three months of 2009, compared to about $12 million over the same span last year. The company's deposits also rose last quarter by 3.7 percent.
In February, the company announced that it received $22 million from the federal government's Troubled Asset Relief Program. The company said it used part of the money to fund its lending activities.
