Severn Mortgage Corp., a home mortgage lender based in Ashburn, recently appointed H.B. Kilgour to senior loan officer. Kilgour has 22 years of experience in local banking and lending.

Extension funding spared

Funding cuts for Loudoun's Extension Services office likely will not be as severe as once thought.

Like other county agencies, Extension Services, which advises the local agriculture community, had to present three levels of cuts to help offset the county's nearly $200 million budget gap. The most severe option would have forced the office to reduce staff and programs.

However, on March 18, supervisors voted for the least severe option, meaning no major cuts will be made, said Extension Services Director Corey Childs. “This is the best that we could ask for,” he said.

Supervisors will officially adopt the county's next budget in early April.
