Chamber opposes bill

The Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce announced April 15 that it has joined a nationwide effort to defeat a bill that would eliminate the right of workers to hold a secret ballot election to form a union. The legislation was introduced in Congress last month. If the bill is passed, opponents fear workers could be intimidated by others to support or oppose a union. The Chamber is urging members to ask representatives in Washington to oppose this legislation.

Heard saying ...

“It's still going along like usual. But I don't see business picking up anytime soon because of the recession.”

--Malcolm Brown, one of the owners of White's Ferry, on how the down economy is affecting business. The ferry takes about 350 commuters across the Potomac River between Loudoun and Maryland each work day.
