'Journey' gains training award

The Journey Through Hallowed Ground, in partnership with the Virginia Department of Historic Resources, has been chosen to develop and launch an extensive frontline hospitality training/professional development program in anticipation of the sesquicentennial of the Civil War, which starts next year.

This effort will encourage economic development by promoting the scenic, recreational and cultural characteristics of the Preserve America communities and historic downtowns along the Journey, including Leesburg, by creating a seamless visitor experience.

The goal is to begin training in spring 2009 and throughout the sesquicentennial commemoration, which ends in 2015.
