Heritage girls dominate track meet

The Heritage Pride girls' track and field squad racked up 158 points to easily outclass the 10-team field at the Millbrook Invitational May 9 in Winchester.

Sherando's girls were a distant second with 61.5 points. Turner Ashby won the boys' competition with 93 points.

Four Pride athletes combined to win seven individual events Friday. Jazlynn Finney placed first in the 100-meter dash, 200 dash and long jump, and teammate Devon Anderson-Farmer won the 300 hurdles and high jump.

Emma McLaughlin (400 run) and Bria Nunley (long jump) also won individual events. Heritage also placed first in the 400 and 800 team relay events.

Loudoun County was the only other local school at the meet. The Raider girls placed eighth with 24.5 points.

Heritage amassed 50 points in the boys' events to place fourth. Loudoun County's boys finished seventh with 35 points.

The Dulles District track and field meet is May 14-15 at Heritage High School. First day events begin at 4 p.m.
