State wants more data on 500-kilovolt line
The public will have one last chance to speak about the proposed 500-kilovolt power transmission line from south of Winchester to near Arcola in Loudoun.
The State Corporation Commission, which received its hearing examiner's report on the line June 9, has set June 30 to receive more testimony. It has directed Dominion Virginia Power to calculate new models for the years 1011 and 2012, using the results and assumptions regarding power generation costs and pricing from the Reliability Price Modeling auction that took place in mid-May.
Dominion's 2011 modeling runs will be with and without the new Frederick-Fauquier-Loudoun line. The 2012 modeling will be with and without that line, and with and without the Amos-Kemptown line, which will connect the Amos power station near St. Albans in southwest West Virginia and Allegheny Power's proposed station in Kemptown, Md.
As currently configured, the line will loop south through much of Fauquier County and back into Loudoun near Arcola, all above ground.
For more information on the application, go to www.scc.virginia.gov.
