Norfolk-based media company Landmark Communications Inc. announced Jan. 3 that it is looking into the possible sale of its properties, which include The Weather Channel and nearly 50 newspapers – including the Ashburn-based Loudoun Easterner.Landmark, a privately held company, also owns the Virginian-Pilot and the Roanoke Times, seven other daily newspapers and, through subsidiary Landmark Community Newspapers Inc., more than 40 community newspapers nationwide. LCNI bought the Loudoun Easterner in August 2005.
