Briefs: Home sales, history booklet, board meeting, supervisor's delivery
Home sales still high as prices continue to dropLoudoun's real estate market continues to show improvement as 519 homes sold in the county in July. This makes the third consecutive month sales have topped the 500 mark, which last happened in 2005, according to the Dulles Area Association of Realtors.
However, in July, the average sales price was down 21 percent from last year.
History booklet released
Loudoun County released this month a new booklet detailing some of the milestones of its government over the last 250 yeas. Called "250 Years of Service," the booklet was written by the county’s director of public information, Jim Barnes, who researched much of the material while preparing for the county's 250th anniversary last year.
To request a booklet, contact the county's Public Information Office at 703-777-0113, or by e-mail at pivs@loudoun.gov.
Board to meet
After taking August off, the Board of Supervisors will next meet Sept. 2 in the board room of the Loudoun County Government Center, 1 Harrison St., S.E. Leesburg.
Successful delivery
Loudoun Supervisor Lori Waters (R-Broad Run) is resting at home after delivering son Tyler on Aug. 20 through cesarean section. Waters, whose first child, Leigh Anna, was also delivered by cesarean section, said she will curtail her workload in September while she recovers.
"C-section is quite a surgery," she said. "I need some rest."
