Class Acts

The following is a list of ongoing classes in the Loudoun and Fairfax area: Art - Second Saturday Figure Session. Sept. 13, 9:30-11:30 a.m. Round Hill Arts Center, 6. W. Loudoun St. Bring materials (paint, clay, etc.); work from live model. $12/session in advance; drop-ins $14/session. Round Hill Arts Center. The Round Hill Arts Center, 6 W. Loudoun St., is offering the following classes:
  • Acrylics painting for beginners. 7-9 p.m. Wednesday nights for eight weeks beginning Sept. 17. Includes color theory, composition and canvas stretching. Instructor: Heather Self. For 16 and older. $220; includes paint, brushes and canvas.
  • Printmaking by hand. 7-9 p.m. Tuesday nights, eight weeks beginning Sept. 16. Explores modern and traditional Japanese printmaking techniques; students carve and print wood and linoleum blocks. Instructor: Heather Self. For 16 and older. $215; includes materials.
  • Photography. 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 7-28. Learn to take greater control of photography and realize creative vision. Topics include image depth of field, shutter speed, auto focus and adjusting work to match subject. For film and digital photographers 16 and older. Instructor: Mary Louise Ravese. $160 by Sept. 19, $180 afterward.
  • Live model figure drawing. 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturdays, Sept. 13, Oct. 11, Nov. 8, Dec. 13. Monitors: Lisa Zimmer-Chu, Meredith McMath. $8 per session.
  • Beginning pottery. Wednesdays, Sept. 17-Nov. 5, 6:30-9:30 p.m. Ages 16 and older use pottery wheel. With Amy Oliver. $220; includes materials.
  • Intermediate pottery, Mondays, Sept. 15-Nov. 3. 6:30-9:30 p.m. Ages 16 and older use pottery wheel. With Amy Oliver. $220; includes materials. 
  • Intermediate and advanced pottery. Tuesdays, Sept. 16-Nov. 4, 6:30-9:30 p.m. With David Norton. $220 plus materials.
