Four track teams win titles

Stone Bridge swept top honors at the Cassel's XBC Track Classic in Chantilly, while Broad Run's boys and Loudoun Valley's girls claimed first-place finishes at the Apple Blossom Invitational in Winchester April 26.

The Bulldog boys scored 77 points and the girls collected 76 points to win the meet consisting of 22 teams. Daniel Allen (22.65 seconds) won the 200-meter dash and Trevor Springman (51 feet, 3.5 inches) was best in the shot put on the boys' side. Chelsea Robinson (36-2.5) won the girls' triple jump, Stephanie Paradis (2:17.32) paced the field in the 800 run and Naomi Session (15.8) was tops in the 100 hurdles.

Stone Bridge also won relay titles on both sides as the girls (Julia Benjamin, Session, Paradis, Bre Donald) won the 1,600 relay in 4:13.38, and the boys (Andre Best, Tyler Smith, Sean Kinnebrew, Allen) captured the 400 relay in 42.92.

The Viking girls racked up 68 points to win the championship at the Apple Blossom Invitational, which was shortened due to thunderstorms. Park View placed second in the 18-team field with 54 points.

Valley's Lauren Privette (35-8.25) claimed the triple jump title, and also ran the first leg on the winning 400-meter relay team. Theresa Trader, Margaret Leonard and Meghan Sullivan also ran a leg as the Vikings completed the relay in 49.9 seconds.

Park View's Natalie Baird took home a pair of throwing titles, winning the shot put (43-2.5) and discus (150-9). Teammate Charlene Fowler (12.6) won the 100 dash, and Loudoun County's Julie Strange (5:17.2) set the pace in the 1,600 run.

The Spartan boys (Eric Hiatt, Wesley Malychev, Robert Hansen, Eric Nelson) won the 3,200 relay in eight minutes, 12 seconds. Broad Run also collected individual victories from Sam Saidi (6-2) in the high jump and Shehzaib Usman (149-7) in the discus.
