Stejbach seeking donations

Briar Woods High School senior Megan Stejbach has accepted an invitation to play for the USA Athletes International softball team this summer in Italy.

Stejbach, who plays competitive softball at Briar Woods and for the Sterling Baseliners 18U team, was recommended for the United States squad by a college coach who saw her play in a showcase tournament.

It's an opportunity of a lifetime,” Stejbach said. “Who gets to go to Italy and play for 10 days? It was definitely an opportunity I could not turn down.”

Stejbach, an outfielder, is one of 13 girls who will represent the United States in softball. To learn more about the games, visit www.usaai.org.

I have never been overseas before and this is a true honor to be part of this,” Stejbach said. “This team does not only consider your athletic ability, but they also consider your character.”

To offset the cost of the trip, Stejback needs to raise about $4,000. She has collected nearly a $1,000 largely through family donations so far and is seeking donations from the community.

All donations are tax deductible. E-mail Megan at Chris.Stejbach@comcast.net for more information.
