Busy In The Newsroom

Wow, what a week!

We know people are reading because the phone rang off the hook (and the e-mail pipeline stayed busy) regarding three articles in the July 25 edition: our Crosstrail editorial, the Mark Tate foreclosure story and our news story about the controversial homophobic ad.

Whether you agree or disagree, we continue to appreciate your comments on our performance as a newspaper.

We have a responsibility to readers to be a watchdog. We must strive to do this with in-depth stories, controversial or not.

Another item that caught my eye was our poll last week on the www.LoudounTimes.com homepage.

Do you agree with the Board of Supervisors decision to examine ways to restrict services to illegal immigrants?

Fifteen readers clicked "yes," and 13 voted "no." The close margin tells me that the supervisors' resolution isn't as cut-and-dried as everyone thinks.

See you next week.
